About the Project:

As part of an exciting project at a leading life sciences company, we are seeking an experienced UX designer with in-depth user research expertise. The project focuses on the development of complex desktop software applications used by experts in scientific laboratory environments for data acquisition and analysis.

You will support mixed Scrum teams comprising over 200 developers across more than 40 teams at various locations. The challenge lies in developing intuitive user interfaces for highly complex expert software.

Project scope: 12 months + possible extension, approx. 4 days per week

Work Location: Remote and, if necessary, on-site in southern Germany; primarily remote, with on-site work as needed

Languages: Fluent in German and English

Responsibilities:

• Technical clarification of requirements in collaboration with product managers and development teams
• Planning, conducting, and documenting user research activities such as contextual interviews and usability tests
• Developing information architectures, interaction concepts, and detailed prototypes
• Creating screen designs in accordance with ZUi Design System standards and ensuring the quality of code implementation
• Documentation in accordance with project requirements and UX team standards
• Effective communication with technical leads and focus groups for concept development

Your Profile

• Several years of professional experience as a UX designer with proven user research expertise
• Experience with desktop applications/software
• Experience working with large, multidisciplinary development teams and complex codebases
• In-depth knowledge of standard user research methods and their analysis to derive requirements
• Expertise in working with design systems and pattern libraries
• Familiarity with Figma, Condens, Azure DevOps, and optionally Axure Cloud
